Heya everyone, so this isn't your typical fashion, beauty of lifestyle post. Infact, I'd thought it'd be interesting to do a female empowerment type post. These topics have been dwelling on my mind for a while and I really do think that anyone who is interested in the fashion and makeup industries which include a lot of stigma and controversy around size-zero models, photo-brushing and the alleged zero percent tolerance for plus size women would really benefit in learning about: female empowerment, what it means to be a woman of the 21st century and also, what kinds of messages are you possibly contributing to putting out there to young, vulnerable or insecure minds about the way they look or should look?
I really do think that first of all as women, you will always have someone looking up to you. Whether you're a sister, mother, daughter, an auntie, working in a high profile job, celebrity or do lots of charity based work you will always have SOMEONE looking up to you as their inspiration or as their role model. So it's important that we put something on the table for those people to respect. Growing up, I've always wanted to better myself or progress throughout my life, whether that would be educationally, intellectually, emotionally, financially etc. And I've always wanted to be self-made, meaning that I want to get it on my own and out of my own hard work. These days, I'm hearing more and more young women saying that they'll marry rich. To be honest with you I quite frankly find that disgusting and very vulgar to here a young woman say that. WE ARE IN THE 21ST CENTURY PEOPLE!! EDUCATE YOURSELVES! Women hundreds of years ago were forced to marry a rich bachelor in order to secure her future, she couldn't marry for love, because women weren't allowed to work, they weren't allowed to vote, were not allowed to own a mortgage, women weren't allowed to be educated in universities - So men had to do all this for them, and needed to have real monet. And now in the 21st century we have young, ignorant, un-educated young women, who have all the resources today that women would have loved to have hundreds of years ago to better themselves and they're throwing these opportunities away. It's a slap in the face! These are basic human rights that we now have that women have previously died for. Is it sheer laziness? The desire to become a 'WAG'? Or is it the insecurity these young women have that they aren't intelligent enough or 'don't have what it takes' to be successful?
1)EDUCATION. is the most important tool you will ever have. And yes I know I'm starting to sound like your mother. BUT, do you really want to be at the end of the employment ladder, earning minimum wage doing something back breaking? Just because it happens to be 'quick cash'? Education is the one thing that will lift you out and away from those 'low-end' jobs, it shows city professionals that you're trained, that you know what you're doing, and actually in the long run having an education is better for you! Because, you learn things in life a lot quicker and earlier on than if you didn't have an education. A university education, can start you off earning a salary in the city or around about £29,000 a year and as you work you're way up through your CAREER, you can be earning up to 100-500,000 a year. It's a simple as, put in the work now, reap the rewards later.
2)ATTITUDE. You young women need to come off of your high horse and stop acting like princesses. YES, your'e going to have to work like a dog now. YES, it's gonna be blood, sweat and tears. And YES, It will make a difference! You can't start living luxury lifestyles now, life is not what the Kardashians get up to on a daily basis. This is the real world, and this is real life, and the reality is you can't get something for nothing. Even the Kardashians worked Very very hard to get where they are today. YOUR ATTITUDE, DETERMINES YOU ALTITUDE.
3) MOTIVATION. Always motivate yourself and set regular goals. And work your hardest to achieve those goals. And you know what? If you don't achieve those goals and you fail, it's a great thing. Failure is a part of becoming successful. NO ONE ever said it was easy. Embrace failure, accept it then try, try again.
For me personally, I always blog images from my tumblr to motivate me. Bare in mind not all of them are motivation some of them are comical. However, Never stop reminding yourself that you can do it. Grind hard and shine later theres no shame in that!
