Curly hair? Dont care!

Heya there guys! How're you doing today? So, Im dedicating this blog post to all those who have curls upon curls of hair- Including myself.  Ever since I was a little girl I've always had this big hair of curls (although back then it was blonde).... and my mum managed it for me... however now that I'm 18 I gotta look after it myself, which I've been doing so far for the last eight or nine years or so.  So, I understand that there are loads of different races and nationalities that have naturally curly hair, there fore a problem can sometimes arise.  Whether  you are Mixed-race, Persian, Morrocan, Arab, Brazillian, Mexican or even European you're always going to have a different texture of hair than the next curly-haired person so sometimes looking after it isn't always straight forward.

Firstly, I would like to give you guys some tips on how to look after it generally, this can apply to all races and nationalities with different kind of hair textures.

1) Wash your hair every day and CONDITION!  Some say not to, but personally for me and my family members who have curly hair its the best thing to do.  You can't always sleep on curly hair because the next morning it may look like a a pig stye! Second to that, sleeping on it the night before can take important moisture out of the hair.  Have you ever noticed your hair is dryer in the morning than the night before?  Condition and comb through your hair whilst it's wet, and keep the conditioner in!  Never wash all the conditioner out your curls otherwise they become prone to breakage as they are not moistured, however don't slap the conditioner on.  Have a thin base of conditioner on your hair and if there is too much gently dousle your hair under the water so the conditioner can run through easily.

2) TIE YOUR HAIR UP BEFORE BED! Atleast try to manage or plait your hair before bed, it leaves your hair easier to deal with in the morning and locks in a lot of moisture.  Try french plaits.

3) It's very tempting to use straighteners sometimes for a different look, but try to refrain from them as much as possible.  There's nothing wrong with using them as long as you're protecting your hair with heat defense! (I use Treseme heat defense serum)  Another thing... blow dryers! I know in the morning if you're rushing to go to work or school and you've just come out the shower, you defo don't have any time to let your hair dry naturally, however when you do know you've got time for it to dry on its own, let it!

So, recently I've had a lot of people asking me how I look after my hair and keep the curls locked and beautiful looking.  Well, I thought I'd post my secret on a blog seeing as I don't really like repeating myself over and over much.

Firstly, for shampooing and conditioning I use OZ shampoo for "locked curls" and Bed Head conditioner; you can buy the shampoo at most drug stores and in the UK you can buy them at Boots or Superdrug.  The Conditioner can be bought at any salon, so dont be afraid to pop your head in the door at any mainstream hairdressers sucha as Toni and Guy, Headmasters or Rush.  Many European shampoos OR shampoos in general, dry the hair out and make it difficult to maintain your moisture, however this shampoo is specifically used to do just the opposite - plus it smells great and leaves you with beautifully smelling curls all day long.  Now, I've used a lot of conditioners and the best have to be one I used to use which was 'Mixed-Chicks' and this one.  The Bed Head conditioner gives a really silky feel to the curls and you feel like your hair really is moistured.  One of the perks I personally like from this product is that it leaves your hair smelling and looking like you've just come out of the salon!

While my hair is still damp I use Loreal Paris oil for hair.  It's perfect as it softens my curls and leave them looking great.  Also the oil is light so it doesn't make my hair look overly oily or ratty after I've used it.

After my hair has dryed and the curls are looking fab, ofcourse I want to keep it looking fab through out the day which can be difficult if you live in London like me, the weather is 60% of the time rainy and overly windy there for my hair needs a lot of hold to lock the curls so they don't turn frizzy.  I use
sofn' free hair spritz which is a clear liquid you spray on to your curls and it hardens leaving the curls in tact.  After that I use a normal hairspray, Bristow, which gives my hair a general, overall hold and leaves it in place - so whatever the weather or whatever person that seems to be fascinated by my hair and wants to play with..... my hair will always stay in place .... and moistured!!

After my hair regime is finished I end up with beautifully balanced out curls which most importantly look healthy and ARE healthy.
